Dubrovacka River travel guide
The deep estuary of the Dubrovacka river is a busy waterway leading to Dubrovnik marina at its head.
Grand summer palaces of Dubrovnik nobleman once lined the banks of this estuary and several remain and have been restored. On the north bank of the estuary the town of Mokosica runs down to the water's edge where boat yards and water front villas vie for space. The entry to the estuary is spanned by the Tudman suspension bridge which is high enough for cruise ships to moor at the quay beneath the bridge and for bungee jumpers to have an exhilarating dive from the centre of the bridge. There is always something to look at on the estuary. A steady stream of sailing yachts and motor boats leaving or returning to the marina or work boats, tugs and fishing boats going about their business.
Dubrovnik centre, Gruz harbour and the beaches of the Lapad peninsula are just a few minutes' drive from villas on the Dubrovacka river. A short drive up the coast takes you to Zaton which has some excellent restaurants overlooking the bay.
