OVERVIEW
Travel back in time to the 17th century, when the luxurious Villa St Nicholas Harbour was built in the grounds of the monastery which existed there since 1499. Weary pilgrims would find refuge in this Korcula harbour house with its thick stone walls, which kept them cool in summer time and warm in the winter. Right next to the house was a sheltered little harbour to moor their boats and local fishermen still do it to this day. From the clean and simple structure of the late Renaissance, this important traveller's rest has recently become a luxury villa with tradition and history, but also with all modern comforts and technical innovations of the present age. Stylish, elegant period interiors come with a heated pool, whirlpool, WiFi, air-conditioning, modern, fully equipped kitchen, wonderful garden, gym, pool table (billiards) and a couple of sea-through kayaks. You are just 300 metres from the centre of old Korcula town, which must be one of the most charming and unique places in the world. There you are spoilt with the choice of entertainment and cultural events, seaside restaurants, cafes, great food, wine and shops. Make day trips to the wonderful smaller satellite islands of Korcula, hop over to the mainland to see Orebic, wonderful Ston and Dubrovnik.
ACCOMMODATION
The villa is reached through the lovely garden, descending paths and steps leading to the house which perches on a sea hugging platform. The sea is one metre away.
Ground floor and basement
The ground floor is an authentic, old vaulted room where boats passed from the harbour into the sea in the olden days. Now it is a brilliant living room with a whole semi-circular glass wall, exposed thick stone walls inside, a modern kitchen, sitting room and dining area, all opening out onto the garden, pool and sea. The massive wooden dining table is large enough for 8 people, and the kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, cooker, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, microwave, and cooking utensils, dinner service and cutlery/glassware. Modern, designer lighting, rough cement vaulted ceiling and mellow oak flooring combine to make this a unique, very attractive and enjoyable area. A very large L-shaped sofa fits snuggly within the vaulted wall in the sitting room which has a satellite TV. From there, wooden stairs lead to an equally attractive basement, where you find a gym with pool (Billiards) table and a shower unit.
First floor
A wooden staircase leads upstairs where there are four double bedrooms with ensuite shower rooms, wardrobes, bed linen and towels. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and two have twin beds. Their windows look out at the sea where all you can see is crystal blue water stretching from your window to the horizon.
OUTSIDE
The amazing villa St Nicholas Harbour has a very large, terraced garden and a stone paved terrace which stretches outside the living room and can be used to sunbathe or sit around a table, enjoying the crisp local white wine Posip, made in Korcula. The entrance is from the road above the villa, where there is a covered car port for two cars. The garden has grass, pine trees, palms, and natural rocky areas. Your children will enjoy using the trampoline and swings. The view is second to none and you will remember this place for years to come.
