Medulin is a popular tourist village just 9 km from
Pula and 15 minutes' drive from
Pula airport. The centre of the old village is on a hillside about 800 metres inland from the coast and has plenty of character with the narrow lanes and old stone building that are typical of the region. Today there are many shops and restaurants in this central area.However the modern village is much enlarged and has extended down to the sea. Many modern new villas have been built in this area. On the coast overlooking the harbour there are numerous bars and restaurants and a delightful promenade along two sides of the bay with many small boats tied up on the quays and jetties. This is a lively area in the evenings. The harbour is separated from the main beach by a narrow peninsula covered in pine trees. The beach is sandy and very gently shelving so ideal for young children. But in peak season it will be busy.
There are beach bars providing refreshment if you are having a day on the beach while boat trips out to the small islands in Medulin bay and other water sports are available from the harbour. The village has two large supermarkets on its outskirts as well as bakeries, coffee shops, souvenir and clothing shops. The regional centre Pula, with its famous Roman amphitheatre is easily reached by car or bus. The stunning and wild scenery of Rt Kamenjak - the tip of the Istrian peninsula - from where you can swim from the rocky headland or in quiet coves, is a 15 minute drive.Watersports are plentiful in Medulin. Windsurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing and scuba diving are available. There are boat trips from Medulin harbour out to the small islands in Medulin bay where you can laze away the day sunbathing and relaxing over a long lunch in one of the beachside bars that prepare fresh grilled meat and fish.
