Overview
This beautifully and expertly restored old castle was built three hundred years ago when it served as a major defence castle against the Mediterranean pirates and various invaders. A small fishing village arose around the castle and now the whole location is a mixture of grandeur and coastal charm. The villa operates as a hotel with seven exceptionally spacious suites and can also be booked for exclusive use for a party of up to 20 people. A boat mooring just in front of the castle accomodates our guests arriving by yacht. Inside, air-conditioning, fabulous bathrooms, spa, gourmet-kitchen and a wonderful collection of antiques provide elegance and luxury, and a 5000 square metre private garden with a large heated outdoor pool, covered loggias and terraces is perfect for rest and relaxation. Guests can use the kitchen themselves or invite a chef to cook for them on request.
The villa is located in a sheltered bay at the western end of the Island of Solta. The island is connected to the mainland by a regular ferry service. The crossing is one hour.
Accommodation
Ground floor
Stone steps from the seafront lead to the heavy wooden door of the villa. The door opens into a grand hall and staircase, with period features retained. A large living room with wood flooring and ceiling beams has a variety of sofas, arm chairs and tables and several chandeliers. Satellite TV/DVD and audio system are in this room which is elegant but also cosy. Another reception room is the music room with a piano. The living room opens out onto a shady terrace and the pool. The kitchen is equipped with all the modern appliances of a professional kitchen, and is for the use of guests. A chef will come and prepare meals on request.
Upper floors
The seven hotel suites vary in size and are individually designed and furnished. All suites are equipped with plasma televisions, minibars, safes, telephones, heaters,air conditioning and free WiFi access.
Kavanjin Suite
Luxurious air-conditioned standard suite with a total area of 35sqm comprising one bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower. This suite has a view of the pool.
Vitezovic Suite
Luxurious air-conditioned standard suite with a total area of 35sqm comprising one bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower and magnificent pool view.
Duke of Lorenski Suite
Luxurious air-conditioned superior suite with a total area of 58sqm comprising one bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower and magnificent sea views.
Von Erlach Suite
Luxurious air-conditioned family suite with a total area of 97sqm comprising one bedroom with double bed, one bedroom with two single beds, one bathroom with bath, one bathroom with shower, with magnificent sea views.
Duke Savoyski Suite
Luxurious air-conditioned deluxe suite on three levels with a total area of 82sqm comprising a living room, one bedroom with double bed and a bathroom with bath tub and separate shower, with view of the pool.
Karlo VI Imperial Tower
Luxurious air-conditioned royal suite on the two top floors of the tower with a total area of 90 sqm. Entrance floor with bathroom and wardrobe, top floor: one bedroom with double bed and bathroom with bathtub and shower.
Grimani Suite
Standard suite on the 2nd floor of the tower with a total area of 32sqm comprising one bedroom with double bed and a bathroom with shower. Beautiful view.
Exclusive use of the castle
You also can book the entire castle for a party of up to twenty people (16+4). The suites sleep sixteen guests and in addition there is room for four further guests on 2 accessory beds, and a double sofa bed in the Savoyski suite. This includes exclusive use of the pool, wellness area, conference room and hotel lounge with piano.
Outside
The villa sits in 5000 square metres (over one acre) of manicured lawns, with mature Mediterranean plants, such as large palm trees and pines. The garden is private and the heated pool dominates the courtyard terrace. All the sun loungers and pool towels are provided. The pool is surrounded by rose beds and terracotta pots with palms, olive and orange trees and is a charming sun trap.
Additional Information
In the nearest village you find shops, a market, tavernas and restaurants. The a-la-carte restaurant and a wine cellar are open to our guests and to the public. Enjoy the beautiful view over the bay whilst you are sampling delicious food or having a cocktail at sunset.
