OVERVIEW
Villa La Mer is a beautiful house made of stone and has a great position in Orebic, right on the seashore. It is a traditional Mediterranean style house nestling among palm trees, with a walled garden, saltwater swimming pool and a gate that opens out onto a beach. Beautifully refurbished and furnished comfortably and tastefully, this villa is all about the sea.
Orebic lies toward the tip of the Peljesac peninsula and from there you can easily take a ferry to Korcula island. Sveti Ilija mountain towers 961 metres above the town and it is worth to climb up to take in the breathtaking views over the Peljesac peninsula and the Adriatic sea. Recommendable is also a day trip to Dubrovnik with a stop over in Ston and Mali-Ston, where you can climb the ancient defensive stone walls and sample oysters from the local oyster banks.
Accommodation
The villa is arranged on three floors.
Ground floor
On the ground floor are a spacious living room, kitchen/diner, and a shower room. The ground floor is covered with sand coloured tiles and many walls show rough exposed stone, whilst the ceilings are clad in wooden beams. This is exactly how a home of this type would have looked like in the past. Together with the quality wicker sofas and armchairs arranged around a stone fireplace, ethnic floor rugs and pieces of antique furniture, this produces a wonderfully warm and elegant effect. From the sitting room two French doors open out onto different parts of the garden, letting in wonderful sunlight, sight of the sea and scent of dry herbs. The sitting room has a satellite LCD TV/DVD player and Hi-Fi. The kitchen is simple and fully equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, espresso coffee maker, blender, dishwasher, washing machine, iron and ironing board. All cooking utensils, plates and glassware are provided. An old white dresser and a large dining table which can sit ten people divide the kitchen and sitting room areas. A downstairs cloakroom/shower room completes the ground floor.
First floor
An elegant wood spiral staircase leads to the first floor with two double and one single bedrooms and a landing hall which has a small sitting area with a satellite LCD TV. The bedrooms have wooden floors, rugs and comfortable beds with good bed linen. One modern shower room is on the first floor. Plenty of bath towels are provided.
Second floor
Here is a master bedroom with a king-size bed and a bathroom with a separate bath tub. The sand and stone coloured bathroom is modern and rustic, spacious and beautiful, with a proper bath. The bedroom has wooden floors with a large double bed and a window with a sea view. An extra bed can be put on the landing space if necessary. Bedrooms have wonderful sea views.
Outside
The villa is completely surrounded by a private walled Mediterranean garden. The trees provide shade for the two separate sitting areas, which have each an outdoor dining table for 10 people. How wonderful to dine al fresco from the garden barbecue, in the midst of palm trees, rosemary, lavender, roses, bougainvillea and hibiscus under a gazebo and by the sea which literally splashes over the wall. You can see the sea and islands from this wonderful garden, and whenever you wish, you open the garden gate and dip in the sea. In addition the villa offers a 24m² saltwater swimming pool. Deck chairs and sun umbrellas are provided.
