OVERVIEW
Dream Villa is a very unique small sea front villa approx 9km outside of the beautiful town of Bol on the island of Brac. There is a beach and a cave one hundred metres from the property. Stone steps lead down to the beach. Brac is an unspoilt sun drenched island with one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) in Bol, within a short drive from the villa. The predominant impression of Brac is vast fields of olive trees and vineyards, ancient stone built walls, small country lanes and the scent of dry herbs and clean sea. Along the island are dotted old towns, villages and settlements of white stone houses, some covered with terracotta curved tiles, and the more ancient ones with large rough slates painted white, to protect the dwellers from the summer heat.
It is a beautiful island full of sandy and pebbly beaches, hidden coves with small restaurants offering simple delicious local food. It is a paradise for windsurfers and all those who like water sports. It is also a place of great traditions and culture being close to the mainland town of Split, which has 2000 years of history, the great Roman Diocletian's palace, a magnificent Roman Forum, Venetian palazzos & squares surrounded by sublime ice cream cafes, markets, galleries, antique shops, excellent restaurants and a lively night life.
The villa can be approached by an asphalt road along the coast from the west, except for the last 2km which is unsurfaced. If approaching from the direction of Bol town, the last 3.3km after leaving the village of Murvica is unsurfaced. Cars with high ground clearance will be most suitable for this road but guests generally report that cars with a standard ground clearance will be able to use the road. Going west from the villa there is a restaurant which is less than 10 minutes walk and two restaurants in the village of Murvica. Bol which is 8.8km distance has many bars, cafes and restaurants.
Accommodation
The villa is built for its ecologically-sensitive owners to the highest standard of ecological workmanship, with top quality insulation which keeps it cool in the summer and warm in the winter months. The villa comprises 80 square metres of living space arranged on one floor, with a small galleried area off one of the bedrooms, with the space for an extra bed and one additional sleeping place in the living area, sleeping five adults and one child as a maximum.
Ecology
The villa is powered by solar heating and an additional generator. Plenty of clean water is provided from the outside rainwater tank for all cooking and washing needs and this water also supplies the bathroom and kitchen. Ten litres of drinking water are provided in the welcome pack, and all shops stock drinking water. In the summer, the sea breeze at night keeps the bedrooms cool, and the house is also cool during the day without the need for air conditioning. There are two portable fans that can be moved around the villa s required.
Living and dining area
The ground floor is tiled with stone tiles, the special feature being a magnificent stone fire place made by the local stone mason from the original Brac stone. The living area is large and very tastefully and comfortably furnished with a 3.5 metres long sofa with upholstered seating. Mirrors and paintings add to the pleasant feel of the living room. There is also a storage space in the living room which is used to store clothes and other items of the guests. The kitchen has white hand built units and all the equipment guests may need. There is a gas hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and a coffee machine, as well as high quality plates, glasses and cutlery and all the cooking utensils. Most guests will appreciate wonderful cooking facilities outdoors, this is the way the locals cook in the summer. The kitchen table sits eight persons comfortably.
Bedrooms and bathroom
There are two good size bedrooms on the ground floor, both with a hardwood floor and a double bed each, with bedside cabinets for storage. One of the befrooms has a small, galleried bed above the double bed, suitable for a child. Additional storage is provided in the living room, and in a separate storage room which is also on the ground floor. One bedroom has a full sea view and the second bedroom a partial see view from the window on the side wall of the house. The windows have a pull-down mesh which can be adjusted at night so that the windows stay open and the circulating night air provides cool breeze which makes sleeping comfortable. In addition, fans are provided. The bathroom is tiled with mosaic tiles and has a large walk in shower, WC, basin, mirror and a hairdryer.
Outside
Absolutely fabulous sea views and steps to a secluded beach. The living room doors open onto a large covered terrace which has all the kitchen equipment for cooking your meals outdoors: there is a hob, stone sink, small fridge/freezer and a barbecue grill. A large wooden table under the covered terrace with a sea view in front can easily seat eight persons. An additional table, in a quiet corner of the garden, can seat four persons. Outside there is another shower and more stone-tiled patios and sunbathing areas. There is also an extra storage area. The south facing garden has a traditional stone built wall. It comprises 1000 square metres (one quarter of an acre) mainly planted with vine, olive trees and Mediterranean plants, with stone paths and open or covered sitting/dining and sunbathing areas. Wonderful views of the sea and the nearby island of Hvar can be enjoyed from the garden and the house - unforgettable sunsets and sunrises, and all the wonderful shades of blue in between. Below the villa there is an excellent pebble and sandy beach which is very secluded and tranquil, and can be reached in a minute via the stone steps from the end of the garden. Just walk out of the house in your swim wear with a picnic and a book or a few children's toys and you are on an uncrowded, quiet beach! There is no public road to the beach and the beach can only be accessed from the villa or by a boat.
Along the coast just over 1km there is beachfront bistro and in the other direction the village of Murvica (3.2km) has a couple more restaurants with stunning sea views.
